Free Health Checkup Camp at Indira Vikash Colony, Near Nirankari Public School, G.T.B Nagar

A comprehensive Health Check Camp was successfully organised on Saturday, 20 December 2025, at Indira Vikash Colony, near Nirankari Public School, G.T.B. Nagar, Delhi, with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare, supporting early detection of lifestyle-related diseases, and creating health awareness among the local community. The camp was conducted with the active participation of medical professionals, support staff, volunteers, and community members. The initiative aimed to provide basic diagnostic services free of cost and to encourage people to adopt healthier lifestyles through timely medical advice.

The camp was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Mayor of Delhi, Sh. Raja Iqbal Singh Ji, whose visit significantly boosted the morale of both the organising team and the beneficiaries. The Mayor interacted with the medical team, volunteers, and participants, and appreciated the effort to bring essential healthcare services to the doorstep of the community. The dignitary also emphasised the importance of regular health check-ups and preventive care, especially in urban populations where lifestyle-related health issues are on the rise.

Residents of Indira Vikash Colony and nearby areas participated enthusiastically in the camp. More than 100 beneficiaries were examined and availed of the services provided. Participants represented all age groups, including senior citizens, working professionals, women, and youth. The strong turnout reflected increasing awareness and interest in maintaining good health within the community.

The camp offered a range of essential health screening services aimed at early identification of common health conditions. Height and weight measurements were taken for all beneficiaries, and Body Mass Index (BMI) was calculated to assess nutritional and weight status. This enabled doctors to identify individuals at risk of obesity-related conditions and provide appropriate dietary and lifestyle guidance. Blood pressure checks were also conducted, and several individuals were identified with high or low blood pressure, including those previously unaware of their condition. They were counselled regarding regular monitoring, medication adherence where applicable, salt restriction, stress management, and physical activity.

Random blood sugar testing was carried out to screen for diabetes and pre-diabetic conditions. A notable number of beneficiaries recorded elevated blood sugar levels, highlighting the growing prevalence of diabetes. These individuals were advised to follow up with their physicians, adopt healthier diets, exercise regularly, and undergo further investigations if required. Based on clinical evaluation and patient history, Electrocardiogram (ECG) tests were conducted for selected beneficiaries on the recommendation of the attending doctors, helping to identify potential cardiac issues and guiding those requiring specialised consultation.

Dr. Anjali (Senior Medical Officer - Tirath Tam Shah Hospital), was present throughout the camp to examine beneficiaries and review their test results. Personalised consultations were provided, with findings explained in simple language. Counselling focused on lifestyle modification, balanced nutrition, regular exercise, stress management, avoidance of tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption, and the importance of regular follow-up and treatment adherence. Special attention was given to elderly patients and those with chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.

It was also informed during the camp that some individuals may return in future for ECG testing with reference to this Health Check Camp. Such beneficiaries will be guided appropriately and provided ECG services as per medical advice. This provision supports continuity of care and reinforces the camp’s objective of long-term health monitoring rather than one-time screening.

The overall response from the community was extremely positive. Beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the organisation, quality of services, and the courteous behaviour of the medical and support staff. Many shared that the camp helped them better understand their health status and motivated them to take proactive steps toward healthier living. Health education materials and verbal guidance played an important role in spreading awareness about non-communicable diseases, early warning signs, and preventive strategies. The presence of the Mayor further enhanced public trust and participation.

The Health Check Camp at Indira Vikash Colony was a successful and impactful initiative that benefited more than 100 individuals through free screenings and medical consultations. The visit of the Hon’ble Mayor added significance to the event and highlighted the importance of community-based healthcare programmes. Services such as height and weight measurement, blood pressure and blood sugar testing, and ECG on medical recommendation contributed to the early detection and prevention of potential health problems. The camp not only addressed immediate healthcare needs but also promoted long-term health awareness and follow-up care. Such camps play a crucial role in strengthening preventive healthcare and should be organised regularly to support a healthier and more informed community.

Dr. Anjali, nursing school students, trained nurses, Mr. Pankaj from HRD, ward boys, and other staff members played a vital role in the successful organisation of the camp. Sincere thanks are extended to all team members for their dedication and contribution to the Medical Health Check-up Camp.
